five days in the desert

Hostile,
barren,
foreboding,
sparce...
There is life out here.
Humble and quiet, it doesn't show itself readily,
if at all.
Every plant has spikes, every animal is poisonous...
All would be grateful to make a meal out of me.
All realize that being loud, showy and boisterous will do you no good here.
.
.
.
Except for the two legged mammals.
Edwards Air Force Base, 29 Palms Marine Base, China Lake Navel Weapons Center, Yuma Proving Ground...
"We're fighting for you're freedoms.."
hmmm....
The freedom to race a 60 foot RV through the desert,
dragging a hummer behind it,
and two motor cycles,
and a four wheeler,
to go tearing through the desert on public lands...
or...
the freedom to race your 60ton F3500000 jacked up pick up truck,
dragging a speedboat,
and 2 jet skis,
through at least 100 miles of desert
to tear around a man made lake on public lands...
"Freedom is not free..."
No,
yesterday i saw it for $2.80 a gallon.
